Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) is facing an uphill climb for re-election and has been trying to paint himself as a reasonable independent. But his challenger, Rep. Tammy Duckworth, isn’t buying it.
Kirk has probably been the most outspoken Republican calling for a hearing and vote on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, a move the Senate GOP leadership is fine with considering they’ve assured there will be no hearing and no vote.
But the reality is that Kirk is no moderate. And Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who is challenging Kirk this November, called him out on Twitter:
Kirk’s own internal polling isn’t promising for the Illinois Republican, which shows him trailing Duckworth by 3 points. It’s going to take more than pretending to be Dem-lite in order to get reelected in Obama country.
