Here’s what I remember from an interview with the mother of a Brazilian baby born with microcephaly as a result of the Zika virus: That her family was under enormous financial strain. She had to quit her job in order to take her son for various therapies — and the doctors told her they simply didn’t know whether the therapies would have any effect. She was exhausted, and felt guilty that she had so little time for her other children.
