A group of Republican operatives have recruited Evan McMullin, a former CIA counterterrorism officer and the chief policy director of the House Republican Conference to run for president as a conservative independent.
In an apparent effort by “never Trump” GOP campaign hands to stop Republican bleeding, Evan McMullin will file to run for president as a third-party conservative alternative.

Kingston told the Washington Examiner the group expects to be on all state ballots by November.
Rick Wilson, GOP campaign operative and outspoken Trump critic, is expected to be involved in McMullin’s campaign.
McMullin, 40, spent the larger part of his career with the CIA managing clandestine operations related to counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, energy, political stability, and counterintelligence.
